Autumn schools focus on Zufechten (the onset), and winter schools on Handarbeit (the work of the hands). The great summer schools, traditionally called general schools, then bring both themes together and connect them.

The winter school programme is made up of elements essential to the middle of the fight. Above all, it requires Fühlen (feeling), both on the blade in the bind and without it, at the no-contact level. Students gradually become familiar with all the important elements and parameters of a realistic understanding of the knightly art, and with its application as the old masters left it in their fencing treatises.

Present with every weapon, and each year in varied forms, are for example Fehlen (missing), Verführen (luring and deceptions), Winden (winding), Übergreifen (changing the grip on the weapon) and, inseparably, Schneiden (cutting and slicing off). These are complemented by further authentic elements chosen from the works of medieval and Renaissance fencing masters.

Lessons cover these weapons:

• Ringen – medieval wrestling / unarmed combat
• dagger
• messer
• longsword
• rapier
• long and short staff
• halberd

Lessons are adapted to each participant's current level and ability. Besides the instructor, assistants are present on site: advanced students who help with the teaching. Training is suitable for men and women aged 18 and over, or from 16 under parental supervision.

The classes will be taught by guild masters and martial arts instructors from CR and Germany.
